- While prescribing novels for the hardships of life and mending broken hearts and souls; Monsieur Perdu can't seem to heal himself through literature. When Perdu's great love disappeared leaving only a letter, which he has never opened, it caused his heartbreak to be too great to cure. Finally he pulls himself together and reads the letter. After which, he departs on a mission to the south of France, hoping to make peace with his loss and discover the end of the story
