"This memory is a recollection of events drawn from person knowledge and experiences of the author while in the 1st gun squad, 3rd section of heavy 30 machine guns, Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Regiment Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division in Korea from August 1951 through May 1952. Human frality has reaped its toll on this old soldier the years since combat, and I ask forgiveness if your recollections differ, none-the-less, weakness of memory a given, I write about those tough days. And I dedicate the memoir to all who served with me, in Dog and Charley Companies, and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the 35th RCT, 25th Infantry Division. Especially in memory of those Killed in Action while serving with me: PFC Leonard J. Griscones, Dog Company; Private Alvin Jean Christy, Charley Company Corporal Michael C.
